Web programmers are the new rock stars

Aidan & Gaz - The Kahunas

When he’s not too busy building clients’ websites, one of our web programmers plays guitar and sings in The Kahunas.

Aidan needed some publicity shots for his part-time music project so brought his fellow bandmate into the CFH studio for some mean and moody photography. Shots were taken and photoshopped by Neil.

And now here’s the blatant advertising bit!

The Kahunas have been playing together for over 20 years in England and Spain. Now based in Rochdale they are available for gigs all over the northwest in pubs, clubs and private functions, either as a four piece band or a duo (acoustic / electric), playing mostly Blues-Rock covers and original songs. Repertoire & gig dates are available at http://nwb.co/kahunas

Follow them on facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Kahunas/129958313723748?v=info

P.S.  a ‘kahuna’ is a Hawaiian word for a priest, sorcerer, magician or wizard apparently!

Dare2B – Forbidden Love – the video of the photo shoot…

“Forbidden Love” – the theme of a recent fashion shoot in the Alps for Dare2B branded skiwear led to CFH creating a video from stills and live action footage of snowboarding and skiing acrobatics…take a look for yourselves:

New Hudson Reed and Ultra brochures; designed, printed and delivered.

The very latest Hudson Reed and Ultra bathroom brochures are now available from 1st July, 2010. CFH Creative has handled the design, photography and print yet again for these highly prestigious brands. Both brochures feature stunning new photography and stylish set builds, all handled in our in-house, purpose-built photographic studio.

Previously known as ‘Home of Ultra’, the mid-market brand has been updated to simply ‘Ultra’ and features a stylish, clean new look for its 192pp brochure. Hudson Reed clearly demonstrates its upmarket credentials yet again with the biggest brochure to date, another whopping 192 pages of gorgeous designer taps, showers, furniture and radiators to grace any contemporary bathroom or kitchen.

As we’ve been designing and maintaining the Ultra and Hudson Reed websites too, you can also view the new ranges online at:

Kiniki Shoot in front of Table Mountain, Cape Town

Once we’d recovered from the helicopter gunship ‘attack’ on Wednesday, (see previous post!), this is a video of how the shoot day panned out. Stunning views of Table Mountain in the background. Blouberg Beach (about a half hour outside Cape Town) is a superb location and glorious beach. It gets a bit windswept and that sea is permanently freezing! (Comes off the Antarctic you know!).

I love the smell of Napalm in the morning…

We’ve just been buzzed by one of the choppers from Apocalypse Now! Flying at no more than 20ft above the surf over the beach just outside Cape Town, a helicopter gun ship gives us a flypast just as we’re prepping the first day’s Kiniki shoot. Amazing sound and sight – not your usual day at work anyway!

Lincrusta..it did not sink the Titanic!

Strange but true, Lincrusta decorative wallcoverings were actually used in many of the staterooms on board the Titanic. And, apparently can still be seen to have survived intact on some of the walls to this day! Rumours that the weight of the papers combined to sink the doomed vessel are completely unfounded…

On a serious note, though, we’ve just relaunched the Lincrusta brand through its own dedicated website with a fresh new look promoting a modern, contemporary use for Lincrusta as well as its renowned heritage and famed installations including “The White House” and JD Rockefeller’s house in New York.

Have a look at the stunning new photography we’ve shot in our studio and on location here:

Banned by YouTube…Schultz Jeans

Well, this was a bit of a shock! We’ve had one of our promo videos for Schultz Jeans banned by YouTube…the ‘official’ explanation is ‘inappropriate content’. Now, we find this a little hard to believe, so we ask you to make up your own minds.

The only thing we can think of is that the model has his hands tied together…hence the “I Want Out” theme. Given some of the content on YouTube, we’re frankly amazed our video has been banned!

Model: Lee Turner
Shot, directed and edited by: Neil Priddey

Sorry, we’re a bit tied up at the moment…!

Following on from our successful South African shoot for Schultz Men’s Jeans, we sourced a gritty, urban location just outside Manchester for this provocative fashion shoot to promote the new Women’s range of underwear as well as Men’s jeans and undies too.

This superb image certainly caused a stir and is reminiscent of some of the highly influential Hipgnosis album cover art from the mid-late 70s, particularly the blindfolded, suited gent just visible left of centre. Neil Priddey, whose concept and art direction was the source of the image, admitted that he’s a huge fan of Hipgnosis work and was inspired by their designs for major rock bands like Pink Floyd, Scorpions, 10CC and UFO. Ant Fisher shot the images, carefully orchestrating the positions of the ‘girls’ to enable Tony Bentley to complete the retouching and final composite shot.

Tony has also created a flash movie showing the girls appearing one by one, now featured on the CFH website home page – visible here:
